The 2015 rules mostly affect vehicles such as camper vans.
in general you can pitch a conventional tent
- By the beaten path in civilization it is permitted to pitch conventional
tents for a single night on ungrown land if a campsite is not within
reasonable distance and the owner of the land has not forbidden or
limited access to the area with signs, gates, fences, or other
reasonable efforts.
- By the beaten path in wilderness, either on private or public land, it is permitted to pitch conventional tents.
- Outside of the beaten path on private or public land it is permitted to pitch
conventional tents unless specificically forbidden by laws on the area
(f.i in protected areas where the ecology would be disturbed by
campers).
When do I need permission from the owner of the land?
- When you intend to pitch a tent near houses, farms, or other marks of civilization
- If you intend to camp for more than a single night.
- If you have more than three tents.
- If you plan to pitch a tent on grown land or land in private use.
- If non-conventional tents are in question (campervans, housevans, e.t.c)
Land owners of private land can restrict access to and prevent camping on
their land. If a land owner prepares a campsite on their land they can
direct people there and is fully in his right to charge people for
pitching tents there as if it was a normal campsite.
